A DAY BY THE SEA....

Home away from sweet home...a closet all cozy with my heated pad and potty...hey what about this empty foodie dish!!!! Well the beans went off to visit their lighthouse in which they got married....ahhhh such mushiness!

Their tiny wedding parlor all decorated for the holiday season...
The ancient lighthouse in oil...
Sunset full of promise of things to come in the morning....
Yaquina Head lighthouse in three shades...which do you like the best?

Monday was a purrrrfectly beautiful day....
I will make you brooches and toys for your delight
Of bird-song at morning and star-shine at night.
I will make a palace fit for you and me,
Of green days in forests and blue days at sea.
~~~ Robert Louis Stevenson~~~
PS: I had a bath today...and we are not happy.
MOMMIES best CHRISTMAS MEMORY from 1963...
Waiting for the magic of Christmas...
The Christmas time I most remember was in 1963. President Kennedy had just been killed and as a nine year old I first became aware that this world was a cold place where we faced danger each day. That year he had come to Berlin to give his famous "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech...we were so filled with hope...then this darkness. I was so glad to be with my Oma and Opa in Augsburg celebrating an old fashion Weihnachten. My mother and I had arrived early in November from New Jersey while my stepfather went to his duty station in Korea for two years. I was safe at home again in the house I grew up in with my beloved grandparents. The gifts that I received that year were my first brunette bubble head Barbie doll and some nice outfits. I love my large box of Prang crayons and drew pictures of our cat Peterle in all his cozy sleeping positions on the sofa... It was my most special childhood Christmas. To this day, I keep a fresh box of crayons in a collectors tin and I have a few beautiful Barbie dolls in my china cabinet to remind me how blessed my life has been all of these years. Life is humble and simple at the cozy cottage these days...Dennis and I do not exchange gifts...instead we give each other our time. Each evening we sit together on the love seat and watch an old black & white movie while we sip tea or coffee and eat some yummy goodies. We long for that time to come all day...being together...close. It is not that we have all the things that we want in this world...instead we are happy with the things that we do have. We all need time. Time to live before it is too late. Time to do the things we put off. Time to say I love you. The time is NOW...use your good china each day, wear the fancy perfume for yourself around the house, put on the pretty skirt, wear the necklace to go shopping. Stop saving your life for someday. Each day is precious and deserving of your best. Tomorrow is not promised so stop wasting your today's. For all of us the time will come when the end will ask, "What did you do with all of your beginnings? " May your Christmas be filled with love and memories humble as a box of crayons and a beloved dolly under the tree.
A CUPPA CHRISTMAS CHEER from the cozy cottage
We are feeling a bit overwhelmed this Christmas season. The outpouring of your love in the many Christmas cards you have sent us touches us deeply. Today we got cards from enchanting islands all over the world! One came from Hawaii, one from Nova Scotia, two from England and one from New Zealand!!!! With so many mouths to feed at the cozy cottage this year we are afraid we can not send out any cards. That does make our hearts a bit sad, so we are inviting you to a little tea party today...
Christmas Tea
Please do come inside and let me pour you a nice cuppa of Christmas cheer. My dearest friends...how happy you make me each and everyday with your gentle purrrrs as you come and visit me here in the cozy cottage. My life would be so empty without all of you. Each day we get older and wiser than the day before but still we know not what tomorrow brings....so love and live now with all your furry hearts....then never a regret will haunt your mind!
Please enjoy one of our favorite songs as you read the words below...
I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day their old familiar carols play, And wild and sweet the words repeat of peace on earth, good will to men. I thought how, as the day had come, The belfries of all Christendom had rolled along the unbroken song of peace on earth, good will to men. And in despair I bowed my head:"There is no peace on earth," I said,"For hate is strong and mocks the song of peace on earth, good will to men." Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:"God is not dead, nor doth he sleep; The wrong shall fail, the right prevail , with peace on earth, good will to men."Till, ringing singing, on its way, the world revolved from night to day, A voice, a chime, a chant sublime, of peace on earth, good will to men!
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882), 1867
