MISS PEACH'S COZY COTTAGE

Welcome to the COZY COTTAGE. This is the furever home of the memory of Miss Peach, our 18 year old Devon Rex angel kitty. I am Miss Hunny Bunny, she asked me to pour you a cuppa catmint tea as you read our old fashion mewsings about this and that. Please come by often...one lump or two? Now our precious Hunny Bunny is also an angel cat...please let me be your hostess at the cozy cottage...my name is Miss Hope.

Remember...only in our tomorrows will we realize what we had in our yesterdays.

ONE MORE DAY OF AUTUMN...THEN

above art by the legendary Tasha Tudor
Tomorrow comes December...

And winter falls of old

are with me

from the past...

A.E. Houseman
Wake me up when it starts to snow again, and I will help you decorate the cozy cottage for Weihnachten mommy! Until then, I will sleep on your favorite pretty fleecy blanket. Tomorrow you will need to bring out the red plaid fleecy OK! Right now I will dream about Marilyn's GOTCHA DAY party on Saturday...I am preparing a very special sushi dish!! I hope my dearest Mickey will escort me to the festivity. Oh I do so love December gatherings...what ever will I wear? SO much to do and think about. Right now I am feeling rather very guilty because I still have not returned all of the lovely calling cards left by you. I hope you will forgive me taking so long...I will come by...
Love Miss Peach

SOFT AND STILL IT FALLS FROM ABOVE~~~SNOW

Winter has opened the door--

And Autumn,

Blown to the wall,

Curls against the register

and rattles secrets.
Marline Noske

Tonight the magic of the coming season has shown me a preview. A light dusting of powdery white snow has fallen upon the cozy cottage, along the crocked cobblestone walk path, over the frosted garden lights and covering the ocher colored birch leaves like a downy blanket. The garden has been put to rest...Persephone is once again the Queen of the Underworld and Demeter mourns for her daughter until she returns in the Spring. Each season brings its charm for us to embrace....welcome WINTER

A PURRRRFECT BOOK FOR CHRISTMAS!

This post today was inspired by the clever kitties at Rosehaven Cottage...stop by and read their story of mischief (>^,^<) then visit the link below and lose yourself in childlike magic for a brief moment as you wander in and around the story....purrrr enchanting

The Cat Who Wouldn’t Come Inside: Based on a True Story
Written and illustrated by Cynthia von Buhler

http://www.comeinsidekitty.com/?gclid=CMjs3ajM548CFROFhgodSG-YZQ
On a cold winter day a cat appears on the porch of an old Victorian house. The girl who lives there feels sorry
for the snow-covered creature and gives him warm milk. The next day she gives him tuna, and the next day a
catnip mouse, and so on and so on, until eventually the porch is as cozy as the house. One day, much to her
surprise, the cat finally answers her invitation inside with an invitation to her. The “house-that-Jack-built”
structure and repetition of this story will appeal to young readers, who will also delight in following the
construction of the cat’s new home. This tale of friendship and trust, of patience and love, is based on a true
story. While living in Boston, in a large purple Victorian house, von Buhler befriended a stray cat, whom she
named Olympus after the Greek mountain. She repeatedly invited him inside, but he didn’t budge from the
porch. So she went to the mountain, so to speak, and over the course of four years, fed him, nursed him, and
built him his own (heated) purple and green house.
Creating the set for the book was a family affair—von Buhler’s father adapted her childhood dollhouse (which
he had built by hand); her mother sewed the curtains, and her sister, a fashion designer, created the clothing.
Von Buhler created all the characters using Sculpey clay. They were baked in an oven until hardened, then
decorated with paint. She created a 3D set, and everything was then photographed with a Haselblad camera
using a variety of lenses and colored gel filters, creating a fantastical world of cottony snow, comfortable chairs,
and hidden delights.
Committed to reaching out to her audience in non-traditional ways, von Buhler has created an art exhibit based
on the sculptures and sets used for the book that also incorporates a children’s cat sculpture workshop . The
exhibit opens first at CVB Space in Manhattan on September 28th, and will then go on to tour children’s
museums nationwide. For more information, please visit www.comeinsidekitty.com, which also includes stepby-
step “make a kitty” instructions, a feature on how the house and set were created, an author’s blog, and
more. Von Buhler is also currently producing a flash music viral video, set to her original music (including her
own vocals), which will feature the book’s characters and set.
Cynthia von Buhler is an internationally known and award-winning artist. Her artwork has been displayed in
galleries and museums around the world, on CD covers, and in books, magazines, and newspapers. Four
illustrations from the book have already been chosen to appear in the prestigious art book American Illustration
in November 2006. They Called Her Molly Pitcher, written by Anne Rockwell and illustrated by von Buhler,
was chosen as one of the New York Public Library’s Top 100 Picture Books of the Year.
Von Buhler has rescued and placed more than twenty-five cats into loving homes, and plans to donate a portion
of her royalties from the sale of this book to City Critters, a New York City animal rescue organization. The
book also contains valuable and practical information for those who find stray cats. She currently lives in a
castle on Staten Island, with a host of pets, including six doves, thirty goldfish, two rats, her husband, Russell,
and, of course, seven cats.
The Cat Who Wouldn’t Come Inside is a loving tribute to feline companionship, sure to warm human and kitty
hearts, because cat company is worth waiting for. Available wherever books are sold or by contacting Houghton
Mifflin Customer Service at

SEVEN RANDOM FACTS ABOUT THE MOMMY AROUND HERE!

Art work by the amazing Ann of Zoolatry

Sylvester that sweet house panther aka The Slycat, tagged me with the 7 Random Facts Meme. Since I remember doing this a long while back, I thought I'd fink on mommy today and tell you seven things about her hee hee!!!

1]Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, my mommy sleeps late because she is a night owl.

2]Mommy never answers the telephone when it rings. That's what they make an answering box for she says!

3]Most of mommies favorite things begin with the letter~C~....Cats, cards, cat bloggers, coffee, castles, cozy cottages, cheese (the stinky the better! LIMBURGER...she is German after all!) cruise ships, chocolate...did I mention CATS?

4]Mommy used to Hoover the house each day because she has some OCD...now we are down to just once a week! YEAH because I hate that noisy sucker! Plus that gives her time to work on my blog.

5]Mommy also used to be a Master Gardener....but now she has a hired gardener so she can spend more time with me and on my blog.

6]Mommy married the Lapdaddy in the beautiful Victorian Yaquina Bay Lighthouse in Newport Oregon...it is haunted by a good ghost.

7]If mommy could pick up our cottage and put it down anywhere else....it would be at the coast in Depoe Bay Oregon. It is her favorite spot in the world because the Lapdaddy took her there on their first trip and she saw her first lighthouse.

NOMSS CAT ART SUNDAY NEVER LOOKED BETTER!

Mommy used some of her pretty colored art papers to make real nice signs for me today. She thinks I keep confusing the boxes I have so she has labled my areas for me. How nice mommy...now I can finally make out my Christmas list on those papers and get it into the mail to Santa Cat!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One of my favorite post modern artisits is Natasha Wescoat. Her colorful whimsical art touches me and takes me back to my childhood school days in Bavaria where the walls were painted in murals and the smell of fresh boxes of crayons still fills my mind. To visit Natasha's world: http://www.natashawescoat.com/about.html~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GUESS WHAT I DID ON THANKSGIVING! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?
Why do the Pilgrams pants fall down? Because they wear their belt buckles on their hats!
This is the turkey Cat Zee had today. Mommy said, "Yummy I'll have the dark and light please!"
So guess what I was watching so intently from the Laddaddy's kneecap?
Yep...I admit I was very interested in the dog show on TV this morning! I wanted to root for the wire hair fox terrier...but they didn't even have one! I like to watch dog shows. I just wish they would also show cat shows on TV....they never do!! Maybe we can sign a protest sheet or something!
So what do you have left over from Thanksgiving dinner?
We have some turkey tamales and Waldorf salad...
want to come over later?
We can watch the Macy's parade (again)
and tell Santa what we want for Christmas.
PS: Does any cat have a real good recipe for Raspberry~Rhubarb Jam?
ONCE IN AWHILE A KITTY COMES ALONG...
A kitty that you just want to cuddle close to your cheeks like a favorite Raggedy Ann doll!
One day Sweet Ariel made this photo of me
I must be a Princess...look on top of my head:)
Then another day Ariel and my devoted sister Marilyn gave me this Princess award. But like I told you in my Box of Life Meme...I am just a plain old ordinary cat who plays in the summer wind.
So I am going to pass this pretty award on to a very special kitty girl who really deserves it. Her name is Miss Chase and she is a very brave kitty with an amazing story to tell. Some of us kitties lay around in sunbeams sleeping our days away. Miss Chase is a working ANGEL who will teach us a thing or two. She is not concerned with her handicaps...she puts them to use.
Welcome her into your heart http://www.chasenoface.blogspot.com/
MONDAY'S MAGIC MOOD>(^,^)<
This is one of Tasha Tudor's drawings. It is her one eyed cat named Minou.
Today I would like to introduce you to a sweet little batch of Devon Rex kitties. They live with my dear friend Diana Nelson in Portland and are guests at the moment. The mommy kitty gave birth to these adorable puddins and they are three weeks old right now. Look at those sweet little tiger stripes! My sweet little Miss Peach once looked just like this many years ago. Now she will be 15 years old on January 10th. Such a blessed life...I love you little Peaches.
Here we come world! (click to bigafy the cuteness:)
Well, maybe we will stay here where it is safe...
Sadly, two kittens from this lovely mommy cats litter did not live long and went to the bridge to get their wings. Sometimes it is hard to be a mommy cat...
CAT ART SUNDAY with a speacial guest to the cottage
Do you remember the first time you heard the word BLOG? What does this strange word mean...what can it offer me? One night I was searching Google for 'Sphynx Cats' and I came upon this beautiful cat named DRAGONHEART who lives in Munich Germany. A magical town that I spent many of my childhood years in. Intrigued I clicked him up and was charmed from his very first photo. I had entered the world of BLOG! DRAGONHEART worked his magic on my heart from the start. Can you see him sitting on my lap in the photos above? Look close and you will see with the eyes of my heart. The kitty I am holding is name YODA. He came to stay with us for one precious week while his beans were away. Even the fussy Miss Peach was charmed by him. Yoda is now at the rainbow bridge but his gentleness will never be forgotten. We know what kind of a kitty will be our next dream kitty. My first cat was a simple ginger...then I had a blue~creme Persian...then came the longed for Devon Rex Miss Peach. One day I will have a Sphynx on my lap. When, I am not certain...but this I know: The kitty will come from my dearest friend Diana Nelson who does breed rescue for Devon's, Cornish and Sphynx kitties. It might be a kitten...it might be a geezer cat like Peach is... it might be an unwanted rejected cat impurrrfect in many ways. But are we not all to some degree?
